Beemers, Beemers, Beemers!!

Seeing a BMW motorcycle around these parts used to be quite a rarity. And you may still have to keep your eyes peeled for a few days in order to catch sight of one here. But if you happened to be traveling by the Intrepid Traveler on Spring Street this afternoon, you would have seen the majority of the beemers in this area, and neighbors from Gainesboro, Baxter, and Pikeville. Rene Albert is the owner of the Intrepid Traveler and a BMW rider. He brought together the local riders today for some coffee and visit. Unfortunately, Rene is now confined to a hospital bed in his apartment. He had an accident last week and broke his right shoulder and his left arm. So, if you are in this area, go by the Intrepid Traveler and buy a cup, or two. It will help Rene pay some of his medical bills.

There was a great group of riders today from around the area. New acquaintences were made and, I am sure, some future rides will result.

Shingles!

An update on the house...we now have shingles and some stone siding. The rest of the siding will be a dark green. Next week goes the plumbing and electrical.

There was a ride this week. I went to Nashville to pick up some shoes. Rode US70 all the way down, then took Tn265 back to Lebanon and TN141 from there. Nice roads to ride. The butt is a little out of shape, though. I need to get more long distance rides in to stay in shape.

New Rider

Coffee this morning with Matt (new rider) and Heath at the Intrepid Traveler. This is a neat, new coffee shop off the west side. Renee who owns the shop rides a BMW and has a lot of bike experience. He is going to begin some biking seminars (maintenance, parts, riding, etc) at the shop and also begin some organized rides from there. Should be fun.
Matt has a new V-Strom; very nice bike; and he is ready for some riding; well, he has to study and pass his exam for architectural license first. But it is nice to have a new rider.

New Construction

My riding most days now consist of a trip out to the building site, where I am building a house. Of course, it is difficult to haul many two-by-fours on it, but it sure does save on gas!! The house is coming along quite well and should be "dried-in" soon. Any interested buyers???

39th Anniversary

Saturday was our 39th wedding anniversary. We started it off with a motorcycle trip up through Liberty, Nameless and Granville. We had a nice lunch at the T.B. Sutton General Store.

The store was started in 1880 and served as the areas general store until the 1970's. It still has a lot of the old merchandise and makes an interesting walk around before lunch. Every Saturday night they have a homestyle dinner and a live Bluegrass band. We will try that out sometime.

After lunch we bought us an old fashioned fried pie (peach) and went down to the park on the edge of the lake and enjoyed the quiet beauty (not to mention the fried pie!). On the return trip, we went through Baxter and back in the Buffalo Valley road. Really a nice day for a mc ride, and beautiful country.

Oh, we also came back through Nameless and took a photo of the J.T. Watts General Merchandise Store. It is now a museum. Neat place (not to have a name....shame).
