I took a tour this weekend with some new riding buddies. After a stop over in Pigeon Forge for the night, we headed to the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley. This is a very interesting place, especially if you like motorcycles. The owner has collected all types of motorcycles and restores them. There are hundreds on display, and they all run. They will be glad to start them up and let you listen to them run. It is amazing to hear some of these motors, almost 100 years old, running like new. I will post some pics of them later, but I couldn't resist this one out front. This is the way I want to mow my lawn!
From Maggie Valley, we toured down through Cherokee and Bryson City to the famous Deals Gap, at the head of the Tail of the Dragon. Us older riders, cooled our heels at the Gap while the young guys took a run down and back up the Tail of the Dragon. Then we headed up through Robbinsville, NC and picked up the Cherohala Skyway. This a beautiful ride ending up in Tellico Plains, TN. Picking up highway 30 in Athens, we headed up through Dayton, Pikeville, Spencer, then 111 back into Cookeville. A little over 500 miles and a great tour.
